Bin LIU  Professor

Scientific Profile

Dr. Bin Liu is currently an associate professor at Tsinghua University in China . He got his bachelor and PhD degrees majored in mechanics from Tsinghua University in 1996 and 2001, respectively. He spent three years, from 2001 to 2004, working as a postdoctoral research associate in Prof. Yonggang Huang's group at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the United States . He then visited Germany as a Humboldt research fellow and worked with Prof. Huajian Gao in Max-Plank institute from 2004 to 2005. He returned to China and joined the faculty of Department of Engineering Mechanics, Tsinghua University in 2005. His research interests include multiple scales and multiple physics simulation method, the mechanical properties of carbon nanotube systems and the coupling effect between the mechanical deformation and the electrical properties, biology inspired mechanics, and mechanics of smart and composite materials. He is the editorial board member of International Journal of Plasticity and Journal of Computational and Theoretical Nanoscience. He has published 36 journal articles and 3 book chapters.
